Veterans Service Commission Financial Assistance is temporary in nature and is meant to prevent undue hardship for veterans and their families until other federal, state, or local benefits can be obtained.
Eligibility
To qualify for benefits the applicant or the veteran on whose service the application is based must have been honorably discharged from active military service performed for purposes other than training.
To qualify for financial assistance, applicants must have resided in Ohio for three months prior to application and in Allen County for three months prior to application. There are no residency requirements to obtain assistance in filing claims for the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits. The Veterans Service Commission provides basic living needs to eligible veterans, family members and widows on an emergency basis. These include rent/shelter, utilities, food, and prescriptions.
