The Allen County Veterans Service Commission helps local veterans and their families understand benefits, access support and take the next step. Whether you recently left the military, served years ago, deployed or never deployed, our office is here to help you find out what may be available.
All services provided by the Allen County Veterans Service Commission are free of charge.
VA Benefits & Claims Assistance
VA benefits can be confusing, especially if you are not sure what you qualify for or where to start. Our Veterans Service Officers can help you complete applications and gather information for benefits administered through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Emergency Financial Assistance
Sometimes life changes quickly. A job transition, medical issue, family emergency or unexpected expense can create financial stress.
Temporary emergency financial assistance may be available for eligible veterans, family members and surviving spouses. This assistance is designed to help prevent undue hardship while other federal, state or local benefits are being pursued.
Emergency assistance may help with basic needs such as:

Vouchers from MercyHealth Thrift Store
Eligibility requirements apply. Contact our office to talk through your situation and find out what information may be needed.
Medical Transportation
Getting to an appointment should not be what keeps you from receiving care.
Transportation may be available for eligible Allen County veterans traveling to VA-directed medical appointments, including VA medical centers, VA clinics and VA-authorized Community Care appointments. Limited transportation may also be available for non-VA medical appointments within Allen County.
Transportation must be scheduled in advance and is based on availability.

Our office can help connect veterans and families with federal, state and local resources. Whether your question is about benefits, health care, financial support or another need, we can help point you in the right direction.
Support for Families
Veterans services are not only for the veteran. Family members and surviving spouses may also qualify for certain types of support.
If you are helping a parent, spouse or loved one who served, our office can help you understand where to begin and what resources may be available.
Honoring Allen County Veterans
The Allen County Veterans Service Commission also helps honor the service of local veterans through Memorial Day ceremonies, markers, memorials and flags.
These services help ensure that veterans are remembered with dignity and respect.
